To launch HBO Max’s The Last of Us, we transformed the historic Domino Sugar Factory in Brooklyn into a post-apocalyptic world inspired by the series. The event featured a large-scale projection mapping sequence across the façade of the Domino Refinery, depicting the spread of the Cordyceps fungus and scenes from the show, creating a haunting visual experience visible from across the East River.
Inside, guests were immersed in a meticulously designed environment that mirrored the show's setting. The journey culminated in an upstairs screening room within the Refinery, where industrial textures combined with atmospheric lighting to provide an intimate viewing experience of the premiere episode.
This activation was part of a broader experiential campaign by HBO, which included immersive screenings at locations like the Angelika Film Center, where attendees engaged with actors portraying characters from the series and participated in interactive elements designed to deepen their connection to the show's universe .
